Artist's Statement: I find all of life to be vibrantly connected by a dynamic play of feminine and masculine energies. These paintings are my expression of this magic. My wish is that this work awakens fresh questions, evokes new connections and reminds the viewer of the wonder and oneness of all things.
Jerry Anderson is a California artist whose work is exhibited in New York City, Italy and California as well as being recognized in China, Germany and the UK.
Anderson's paintings are an expression of his appreciation of the mystery of life. His extensive travels, varied studies and broad life experiences have shown him, as he says: "...the exquisite complexity and connectedness of all life which is a marvelous platform for the amazing dance of male and female energies."
This perception is evident throughout his work which explores the relationships between nature, the human form and the divine. His paintings are immediately identifiable by the bold use of saturated color combined with curvilinear shapes, flowing lines, strong underlying structure and a musical sense of movement.
Noting that aspects of the female form are prominent throughout, one reviewer commented that: "The edge of a cloud might share its shape with the curve of a woman's back or with the waves of her hair ... The paintings, which collectively make use of similar colors, shapes, and moods result in predominately sensual, emotive creations."
Anderson studied engineering at Rice University and architecture at The University of Oklahoma. His further studies of shamanism, psychology, religion and philosophy clearly influence the content of his work as has his companion careers of architect, builder, horse breeder and wine grape grower.
His work has been featured in Art Tour International, ATIM Top 60 Masters of Contemporary Art, Energia Creativa, Rivierart, Artblend and ARTisSpectrum. He has also received the Premio Bertelli award at the 2013 Little Treasures exhibition in Bologna as well as multiple Artavita competition awards.
